I have given a very detailed history of AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT over the past several posts on CAD tips for Windows. In 1983 Autodesk shipped AutoCAD for the Apple II in limited quantities. The goal of the product was to produce a full-featured computer-aided design application for the Apple II. The original version of AutoCAD for the Apple II was derived from an earlier version of AutoCAD that ran on the Xerox Alto computer. The first version of the Apple II software only had the ability to work on AutoCAD models. Later, the capability was added to modify the geometry of objects in a drawing.
There were a couple of other versions of AutoCAD for the Apple II that were released after the original version.
The original version of AutoCAD was a 32K Apple II diskette. It was priced at $1,500. A few hundred thousand units of the original release were sold.

My Cool Little Town
I’ve been looking for somewhere to take photos of my home for some time now, and I finally decided to put a post together and share with you all. The plasmid pJC21 was constructed by inserting a 3.0-kb DNA segment containing the promoter region and the first codon of the lacZ gene from Bacillus subtilis subsp. subtilis into the plasmid vector pLC118, a derivative of the multicopy plasmid pJB50. A gene bank from this recombinant plasmid was screened for the presence of the lacZ gene, which codes for beta-galactosidase. A 1.8-kb DNA fragment containing the lacZ gene was isolated from the genomic library of the B. subtilis subsp. subtilis strain X-53, the strain in which the beta-galactosidase activity was first detected. Nucleotide sequence analysis of the gene revealed an open reading frame encoding a protein with a molecular weight of 49,776 daltons. Comparison of the nucleotide sequence of the lacZ gene from B. subtilis subsp. subtilis strain X-53 with that of B. subtilis 168 revealed a 14-bp difference in the flanking region and an 8-bp difference in the open reading frame.
