While I am no expert in photo editing, I have been using it for years. Good reviews rarely give too much away, but one thing I noticed today that offered a deal of insight into how the entire package works. If you use a flash card to import images from your camera, through Lightroom, then take a look at the screen here. To my surprise, I could not find the option to import directly to Lightroom from camera! Not anymore, at least. Maybe this is something that only the Lightroom developers know about, or it could be a bug. I don’t know which. Regardless, if you want to import directly from a flash card, you can still do that using their software. That’s a deal your readers won’t ever see.
One thing that I would have liked to see in probably Lightroom 5 was the addition of a “iris-rectangle” adjustment or filter. This adjustment corrects the “iris problem” often found in camera photos. This “Lightroom Adjustment” plug-in can be found in Photoshop. It allows you to “enhance” a given image by removing unwanted “irises” from their subject’s eyes, by placing dark pixels in the irises of the photographed person. (This is not used here). However, this Lightroom version does not let you select the exact number of dark pixels to be placed inside the irises. And the plug-in is not as easy to use to find all of the needed details, as sometimes you have to zoom in and then back out.
The Photoshop styles is a personal collection of styles created for Photoshop. As with its Elements stablemate, Premiere Elements, Photoshop Elements for macOS matches its Windows 10 counterpart feature-for-feature. The software requires macOS 10.14 or later, but it doesn’t yet support Apple Silicon M1-based Macs. That’s on Adobe’s roadmap for the software, however. You may have seen feedback on the Photoshop forums regarding great work for the new features on Adobe’s website but not seeing them in PSN earlier this month or in May when PSN was first updated. This is due to the fact that there are currently no systems or workflows in place that comply with Adobe’s recommendations for authors, tools, and processes in the process of delivering the content as metadata.
To that end, to ease content creation processes and ensure consistency across internal and external metadata, Adobe is developing an approach which considers recommended authoring practices, tools listed on the Photoshop support webpages, and specification, as well as standard components and algorithms.
