the first version of the revit construction add-in for bim 360 design was released in january this year and brought great improvements to speed of use for as-built modeling in revit and speeds up the time to complete geometric clash checking. it also added the ability to coordinate within projects across multiple files. the post revit construction add-in now available to build as-built workflows in revit, in bim 360 design july 2022 appeared first on autodesk.
when we complete an architectural drawing, we attach camera data (radar and laser) to each entity. this enables us to point out on the drawing what we’d like to extract from the model. in this workflow, there is only a single main building model we’re working on, so the camera data will only have one entry.
although multiple walls will be added to the design, we want to keep the camera data attached to the single shell. this will allow us to build different sets of walls using various design and zoning strategies that we have in bim 360 design.
we’re going to use the default bim360i 3d warehouse. let’s go to organize > 3d warehouse in the ribbon menu in revit and browse the default catalog. look for the as-built folder and select it. you can also select the web apps folder and select our bim 360 construction app.
– make sure your firewall allows incoming or file-sharing connections on port 4868 – close revit if it is open – navigate to the add-ins tab of your autodesk revit. make sure the add-ins option has the checkbox checked (and then uncheck it if it does not.)
once youve registered your add-in, simply click on the cog icon in the upper left hand corner of revit. under the overview tab, select new. this opens up a new workspace. it is important to select etransmit as the data type in this workspace, and to then configure the workspace to the proper settings.
in the navigation tab of the options window, choose where in the file tree to display the folder containing your models. in my case, i chose desktop and chose the folder where my cloud models were stored. most of the time, users dont browse through the trees at all but rather do it directly in revit. if you want to offer the option, there is also a checkbox in the navigation tab for that.
click on file sharing. in the file sharing section, click on the manage sharing options link and then click on add. youll see a warning message that says you have been prompted to add your user to the group shareall. click add. in the next window, type in your username and click add. in the case of my add-in, i am using the username revit-ec7.
