Proxy IPv6 is completely disabled by default. Cumulus Linux does not use proxy IPv6, so no configuration is required. Proxy IPv6 is an attempt to implement IPv6 hop-by-hop without IPv6 loopback (IPv6 over IPv4). Proxy IPv6 as implemented by Cumulus Linux uses a dual-stack host for proxy IPv6. Ipv6 protocols can be bypassed by performing layer 3 routing. For example, if you are using a layer 3 routing solution such as BGP, and a protocol other than ICMPv6 is marked as bad on a proxy hop of a Layer 2 connection, the whole proxy transmission is lost because routing is lost. If this can happen, the IPv6 connectivity will not be usable for either IPv6 or IPv4. There is a partial workaround. You can have a proxy IPv6 socket from your Cumulus Linux host with a source interface that is not an interface that is using the packet filtering driver (SPAN or ERSPAN). If you use a good quality channel (SVIs or VXLANs), the other two interfaces (using the packet filtering driver) can survive the attack.
The switch on-the-fly VLAN membership is enabled by default. This automatically creates the vlan interface with the VLAN ID. When a host boots, it belongs to the default VLAN. Cumulus Linux attaches to all interfaces by default. Cumulus Linux uses an extension to the Open vSwitch call set_nexthop to determine the interface on which to send a packet. When the default interface of a host is down, the packets that the Open vSwitch sends out are sent out the only interface that is configured. This greatly simplifies configuration. For example, if a host is attached to four interfaces, one interface is the default interface, so the host will operate normally.
