DbaMgr is a free alternative to the commercial SQL-DMO (Microsoft
SQL Developer and DBA Objects) and MSDE (Microsoft SQL Server Data
Explorer) tool by using MSDE inter-communication for the communication with
SQL-DMO and MSDE instance.
This is the only project available that make the connection between MSDE
and SQL-DMO through IDL-C interface.
Also, DbaMgr use the contents of MSDE’s Object Explorer for its extended
features, and uses its known classes to implement the available functions.
DbaMgr can be installed on both windows OS and MAC, like MSDE, but it can
be usefull for Windows only instances.
DbaMgr use a SSO (Single Sign-On) mechanism for the privileged user to
connect to the DBAMGR instance, to manage and debug MSDE.
DbaMgr can be used alone, installable only on Windows OS; it can be used
as a workbench; It can be used with VB6 of the developer to perform common
housekeeping tasks; with a MSDE installation of the developer, it can be usefull;
as a MSDE Front-end, to control and manage MSDE instance.; The DbaMgr installable does not require any installation of MSDE.
A full version is also available for developer, can be used for common
housekeeping task, and it can be used as a workbench, and It can be useful for the
MSDE instance.; with a MSDE instance running on the developer’s machine, it can be
useful for development, testing, and production; like SQL-DMO, it can use the
MSDE set of classes.
