What is Twilight Struggle?
Twilight Struggle (TS) is a board game that blends dice-driven events, chance cards, and players’ decisions, all with a bluffing theme.
Each player acts as either Germany or Russia and commands one of five classic and legendary teams. Each side has two abilities that directly affect the game. Germany’s abilities may give it an edge on any given turn. Russia’s abilities can only be used if you acquire an “A” card.
Both sides have three strategic resources: gold, blue, and oil. Gold is money. Blue is man-hours. Oil is strength. Each unit is worth 1, 2, or 3 of these resources. That makes an army of tanks worth 3 blue, three infantrymen worth 2, and one plane worth 9.
Each player has a deck of event cards. Some cards give an edge to players. Some are useless. Some are fakes, with no actual effect. Some are so specific that they only give a one-time edge, like “fetching” an army from the box. Some cards just provide a numerical bonus.
There are ten neutral cards. These cards don’t have any real value, but they bring a different aspect of the game to the player’s arsenal.

The Dresden Files Cooperative Card Game is a card game based on the short story “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil” by Stephen King. The game was developed by Fantasy Flight Games and was released for the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game system in 2008.
Gameplay
The cooperative card game is similar to the Magic: The Gathering collectible card game in that it uses the same basic method of gameplay. The players use a standard deck of reusable 120 game cards and one or more boosters in order to acquire victory points for their character. In addition to a standard color scheme, each card features a special effect which can be triggered at the beginning of each game. All players start the game in the same location, and when a player chooses to leave their location, the player’s home location and any items they hold become trapped. If another player reaches their home location, the effect is triggered and any trapped items can be removed from the location after one minute.
Actions are represented by choosing the type of action, color, and effect type displayed on the card. There are three types of actions; those requiring a standard action to be performed (e.g. going within 30 feet to threaten your opponent, Draw Swords, Moving, etc.), those requiring a standard action and a standard combat action combined, and those requiring a standard action to perform and combat action too (e.g. summon succubus, Sleep, Hide, etc.). The type of effects used in this game are either Summon or Attack. There are four types of special effects, some of which can be found in card packs and others of which are unique to that particular hero in the adventure.
Adventure
The game consists of five player characters and five mini-adventures, each story arc leads players into a new location. Starting at the Tower in the center of town, adventurers can enter their homes or the public library, which houses the adventure pdfs. As they progress through the location and complete the story for each mini-adventure, the named hero gains experience, learning new abilities and gaining more levels. The game doesn’t rule out using multiple characters at the same time; for example, at the Witch’s Shoppe an enemy character could be used to get the Party an advantage with his weapons, or players could use their hero card to incapacitate the enemy’s henchmen.
