flowjo v10.2 includes many new exploratory tools, including the ability to hierarchically view populations down to the single-cell level (an example of this can be seen in the image below). this allows you to zoom out from the global view of the data set, to a level at which populations emerge. youll be able to query your data at this level. if youre familiar with cytoscape, youll find this feature very similar to its tree-view layout mode. youll also find access to the cell ontology to query cell types.

in the example below, we can see a downsampled version of the data set. in this instance, its reduced from 10,000 cells to 843. you can click on a symbol to learn more about the cells that were represented. the legend at the bottom of the window shows the full name of the population.

flowjo 10.2 also includes a number of new and enhanced panels that allow you to quickly and easily manage your data. the cells panel now has an autofit function that will automatically adjust the cell dimensions so that the cells are displayed on screen at a constant size regardless of the size of the data in your file.
if you are using the latest version of flowjo, you will have to import the old legacy fcs files with which you are familiar. while these files are no longer needed, you will need to import them in order for your workspace to load data files correctly. in order to do this, you may need to find an old copy of the fcs files that were used to create a workspace, or set up a new workspace using the “add and load fcs file” option.
