i know this is a remake but i just want to add my thoughts. the story is actually the same as the disney one but there are a few things. first of all, in the new film, there are way more songs and way less dancing. secondly, cinderella doesn’t meet prince charming until the very end and there is nothing about a glass slipper. third, in the original tale, cinderella’s father is a doctor and in this movie, he’s a butler. fourth, they used new songs instead of the old ones. they are all good and have gotten the same amount of airplay as the originals. but i guess the best part of this film is that they made cinderella beautiful again!
the movie is a full of filth. it’s almost like the content is designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator. if you like cursing, then you will love this movie. it is a pretty well done movie. i think it has its flaws but i don’t mind it. i was shocked when selena gomez was in the movie. it was a bad move.
as for the ‘popular’ versions, i think the cinderella version is the one everyone knows about. cinderella includes the movie’s title, the movie’s main characters, and the fairytale itself. the cinderella version is about a girl named cinderella who was born the daughter of a prince and princess who was betrothed to the prince. on the eve of her wedding, the evil stepmother switches the two for her own evil daughter. cinderella becomes a peasant and is forced to look after her step-sisters while she works her tail off to acquire a magical slipper that can be placed on her right foot so that she can marry the prince she loves. because cinderella isn’t allowed to leave the palace grounds, she is forced to seek help from a magic cat named jafar. jafar is a genie who is able to grant wishes, but he can only grant one per day. to obtain the magic slipper, cinderella asks jafar for three wishes, but in exchange, she must work for him three years. cinderella’s father, the prince, makes a deal with jafar that he will return to the palace if the slipper is delivered to the castle in three years. for three years, cinderella works as jafar’s servant and learns the tricks of the trade from a monkey named scuttle. in the end, cinderella returns home to her prince, giving her the magical slipper, and jafar is sent back to the lamp.
Cinderella does not have any fairy godmother to turn her into a princess, but she does have her stepmother’s curse that causes a month of days. This is a twist on a fairy tale trope that most villains get to forget the curse and remember their good fortune but that mostly prevents the story of Cinderella from having a happy ending. The stepmother’s curse still has a secondary effect of causing Cinderella’s step sisters to go into the woods to be mauled by a wolf. One of the stepsisters does die, but the story is not revealed until the end when the prince arrives with all the stepfamily present. The stepsisters relationship with their mother is the main focus, and it is revealed in the end that while the stepsister suffered the worst, the relationship between her and her mother is positive because she always encouraged her to become a princess like Cinderella.
This has always been my favorite Disney adaptation of this story. Sure, it’s not the most complex Disney movie ever made, and it’s overall plot isn’t that complex either. However, with every new film and re-release, the story comes alive again, not to mention the iconic voice of Taylor Swift, who plays the character of Rosalie, the wicked stepmother. During her “1989” tour, Taylor even danced a Cinderella-inspired routine which went viral.
The next element is the Cinderella and the prince. We like that aspect of the story but we like Cinderella more when she is helping a lost soul. Cinderella is seen for who she is. Not what others want her to be. She is kind, decent and loving. But she also does not let herself be disappointed in life. When she is given a terrible end, she not only gets over it but becomes stronger and more determined to help others. Because of her determination to help others, she became a fairy Godmother, much like the one in the story.Cinderella is mostly known for the prince but she definitely did have her relationship with someone who looked out for her. The prince was no Prince Charming. He was selfish, jealous and mean. He even tried to kill someone who looked at her when the was upset. We love her for who she is. There was no forced plot and she ended up being a fairy Godmother, just like in the fairy tale. There was no prince in this movie.
