Registering a network of coronary laboratories is essential for monitoring the quality of coronary-related healthcare. The Western Inter-Society Consensus for the management of ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction (WISE) Registry is an NCDR-coordinated project with the primary aim to collect clinical data on patients presenting with ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) and to validate the new WISE diagnostic criteria. The findings from the WISE Registry will be used to evaluate the impact of implementing the new diagnostic criteria on the utilization of coronary interventions and their outcomes.

Data were included in this study by leading industry partners in the broad range of high-performance computing: AMD, AspenTech, 3M, Burl Foundation, Cisco, Comtract Consulting, Dassault, General Electric, Hewlett Packard, MATLAB, Oracle, SUN Microsystems, Sumitomo and Wolff. We would like to thank the cardiologists, software experts, and senior leadership from large medical centers (Johns Hopkins, Mayo Clinic, Massachusetts General Hospital, Washington University, Mayo Clinic, University of Nebraska Medical Center, Indiana University) and industry (AstraZeneca, Abbott Vascular, CardioSounds, Medpace, Novartis, Siemens and Wolff) for their assistance and contributions.

Microsoft and Siemens are collaborating to deliver a new, cloud-based virtual desktop management (VDM) service named Citrix XenDesktop and Microsoft Azure. This service provides access to applications and desktops in the cloud. Citrix customers can access their applications in a familiar desktop environment, from any device while on-the-go. Now with the ability to access applications via a Web browser, it’s easy for IT to deploy, manage, and scale the services and provide increased agility for Citrix users.

Innovative solutions for cardiologists, anatomists, and clinicians of any discipline require a highly integrated and customizable support platform. The new LUMEDX CVX QuickLink module is an ideal solution, connecting Siemens NX and LUMEDX to a powerful and easy to use CVX central workstation application. This new module is a snap-in for Siemens NX to handle common tasks, by being instrument-optimized and extremely fast and intuitive.
Using the unique software and hardware capabilities of the Siemens Healthcare ViewStation console, Philips has enabled the creation of a portable at-home diagnosis and consultation system. ViewStation homesite is a complete, end-to-end solution that dramatically improves workflow and promotes clinical consultation and communication.
The new suite of Siemens Healthineers Magstim Magnifix® Cap coils, designed specifically for the popular Magstim® Max® stimulator, extend the range of electric stimuli available to the clinician. Innovative research into the use of magnetic stimulation for the treatment of pain and movement disorders is being conducted at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London, and the Hope Hospital, Salford. This includes research into tools for the preclinical diagnosis of such conditions, such as Parkinson’s Disease.
In October 2018, the National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR®) Foundation, an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding the knowledge and use of cardiovascular health data for research, professional practice, and public health, launched the National Cardiovascular Data Registry- CathPCI database, the first nationwide, hospital-based registry to comprehensively capture clinical performance of percutaneous coronary interventions in the United States (PCI). To track CathPCI quality improvement and outcomes data, the NCDR® CathPCI registry leverages the power of a hospital-based national enterprise patient-level data collection program, National Cardiovascular Data Registry: Get with the Guidelines (NCDR-GWTG®). NCDR® CathPCI complements the NCDR® CathPCI registry, a national hospital-based registry that collects patient-level data on acute coronary syndromes (ACS) hospitalized in the United States, including PCI cases. The 2018 NCDR® CathPCI data are being released in the fall of 2019 and are hosted on the NCDR® CathPCI Dashboard, a hospital-based web portal that provides access to complete CathPCI data and supporting documents.
